Rush Fitness Water and Mizuno teamed up for a morning of pavement-pounding competition at the 2008 Mizuno Rush to Infinity. A fun run that featured 15k, 10k and 5k divisions, the Rush to Infinity drew over 2000 participants, from seasoned endurance runners to first time competitors.

The race began near the NBC Tent at the Fort, with competitors of the 15k division first seeing action, followed by the 10k and 5k runners. Preliminary warm-up exercises were led by trainers from Fitness First. Personalities including Tessa-Prieto Valdez, Lance Gokongwei and Senator Pia Cayetano graced the event and ran in their respective divisions.

The fastest feet for men in the 5k division belonged to Ben Alejandrino, who finished first, followed by Abraham Barcase in second and Marjohn Salanawon, who won 3rd Place. The flying finishers for women in the 5k division were Kim Mangarobang, who placed first, and Michelle de Vera who came in 2nd Place.

In the 10k division, coming in quickest for the men were Alley Quisay in first, followed by Jujet de Asis in second and Ramie Lacson in 3rd Place. The fastest finishers in the same division for the women were Monica Torres, who was first to the Finish Line, followed by Ailyn Tolentino in second and Alfena Reyes, who came in third.

Running the race’s longest leg – the 15k run – in the fastest time for men were Alquin Bolivar who finished first, followed by Bernardo Desamito, finishing second and Jessie P. Ano, who finished third. The fastest 15k finishers for women were Corazon Salcedo, who finished first, followed by Annie Agoncillo who crossed the Finish Line second, and Enate Sayrol, who ended her race in 3rd Place.

The Rush to Infinity was an exhilarating experience for the runners – especially the winners – as Monica Torres, 1st place finisher in the 10k Women’s Division, says, “It was a very well organized race, lots of water stations, and the marshals were very good. And then maganda yung weather, so I enjoyed the run.” The race also marked a personal victory for Monica, a member of the National Duathlon Team, “We’re in training in Subic. The last 10k I did was in February, so sabi ng coach namin, i-time trial n’yo na ‘to. I really wanted to see if I improved my time. I did, fortunately.”

Aside from the awards given to the Top 3 Finishers in all categories, other great prizes awaited lucky runners. A total of 9 one-month memberships to Fitness First were raffled off, along with Oakley shades, an iPod, and a Samsung Dual-Sim cellular phone. Mizuno Senior Manager for Asia-Oceania Mori Andachi was on hand for the awarding ceremonies, along with Rush Fitness Water talents Kaye Lopez and Patrick Soriano.

The Rush to Infinity fun run was heralded by the Rush Run Clinic held at R.O.X. in Bonifacio High Street. Headed by Kaye Lopez and Team David’s Salon, and Coach Rio de la Cruz, the Rush Run Clinic essentially armed fun run participants with basic knowledge and tips on enhancing their running performance. It tackled topics such as proper running technique, warm ups and drills, nutrition and hydration, appropriate apparel and shoes, supplementary training exercises and runner’s safety. Another fundamental aim of the clinic was to initiate newcomers into the Active Achiever lifestyle by way of the sport of running.

Rush Fitness Water joined thousands of active achievers when it proudly took part in three fun and energy-filled run at the UP Academic Oval in Diliman, Quezon City.

At the UP Centennial Run, participants dashed towards good health when they participated in the 5k and 10k run. Fitness enthusiasts and UP alumni from all over Metro Manila brought a spring in their step, Rush Fitness Water in hand, in a friendly race towards the finish line. All registered participants received a UP running singlet, a bottle of Rush Fitness Water and a Rush sticker tattoo while top winners received Rush fitness gym bags and towels.

Soon after the Centennial Run, Rush Fitness Water was back to the home of Iskolars ng Bayan to welcome another batch of active achievers, this time in celebration of the UPD AIESEC Week. AIESEC is the world’s largest student-based organization spanning over 100 countries and over 1,100 universities.

To kick off the weeklong festivities, UPD AIESEC members organized a fun run to challenge fitness buffs and encourage groups and families to a healthy bonding experience.

“When I found out UP AIESEC will be having a fun run, I immediately signed in,” said Marco Espiridion, an Economics student in UP. “I love running to stay fit and it is also an opportunity for me and my friends to do a worthwhile activity together.”

Sprinting in the 3K, 5K and 10K categories were hundreds of fitness-minded individuals. Drinking stations lining up the race course downed the heat with bottles of Rush Fitness Water, keeping participants hydrated with its right amount of electrolytes that replenish the body with minerals lost during vigorous activities.

Finally, Rush Fitness Water took on an environmental focus in the Good is Green (GIG) Run organized by the UP Mountaineers Environmental Committee. With close to 1,200 participants, the activity was aimed at raising funds to support the UP Mountaineer’s project to reforest the Ipo and Angat watersheds.

These Rush-sponsored events provided a good venue for dynamic individuals who are set to reach their goals without sacrificing their active lifestyle. For them, staying fit is one of life’s greatest triumphs, and Rush Fitness Water is their dependable companion in their race to the finish.

Rush sponsored the first leg of the race, which gathered nearly 30 teams spread among 5 categories for both men and women competitors.

The year-long, four-leg Executive Road Cycling Race Series, or XRC, has become the premiere race series for executive class cyclists who successfully balance their professional careers with their athletic pursuits. Rush, as the ideal drink for everyday fitness, is the event’s official drink since its launch last year.

“As organizers of the XRC, we are very particular with the brands we partner with. Rush reflects our philosophy, that’s why it is the official fitness water of the tour,” said event management consultant and Elite Multi-Sport Resources (EMR) director Edmund Mangaser.

The top winners for the first leg of this year’s XRC were Team David Salon’s Joyette Jopson, Ladies’ Category C; Team Enervon’s Joey Ramos, Men’s Category C; Team David Salon’s Marita Lucas, Ladies’ Category B; Team X-Terra’s Antonio Zapanta, Men’s Category B; and Team Fitness First’s Leian Cruz, Men’s Category A.

The highlight of the race happened during the Category A competition, when three competitors broke out from the pack at the final legs of the race, and settled in the final three spots. The Fitness First team triumphed over Elixir team and PLDT team in the closely-fought race.

“We experience stress everyday, and taking energy drinks like Rush hydrates us and keeps us going,” said Leian Cruz, a member of the Fitness First team. “I myself drink Rush to keep me hydrated. It gives me all the carbohydrates and ions I need. It enhances my performance.”

Succeeding legs of the series will be in Tagaytay, the Clark Freeport and the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. Each leg features a set of unique challenges for the riders, from seaside boulevards to backcountry lanes, high-speed courses to punishing uphill climbs, in all kinds of weather.
